This morning the book club (who have been participating in the Leeds Book Awards since January) accompanied Miss Whiteley and Mrs Glazer to Pudsey Civic Hall to attend the Awards Ceremony.

It was all very exciting, there were over 400 children attending from Primary schools across Leeds. The ceremony was hosted by poet Craig Bradley who told lots of silly jokes and performed some poetry.

Six primary schools each did a performance based upon one of the shortlisted books and then the winner was announced…..

Everyone held their breath.

The winner of the 2014 Leeds Book Awards was –

Wild Boy by Rob Lloyd Jones!

After the ceremony the group had the opportunity to meet the authors (5 of the 6 authors had attended) and have their books or notepads signed.

Everyone left the Awards Ceremony having had a great morning.

However, the exciting day didn’t stop there, at Leeds train station the book club were extremely fortunate to meet Olympic cyclist, Jason Kenny!

The group rode bikes and then had their photograph taken with Jason. What an amazing ending to an already fabulous day!
