Recommeded Reads

Not sure what to read next?

This may be of help.

Over the past couple of weeks during library sessions, children in KS2 have been talking about their favourite authors and books and if they would recommend them to someone in their class/school and why.

Each class came up with a long list of nominations and then voted for their favourite/best liked three books. The votes were counted and Miss Whiteley will produce a top 5 recommended reads sheet for each class.  A folder will be in the library containing these for children to look at.

Which book will you choose to read next?

The group meets every week to talk about the books and the children are asked to write a short review for each book on the Awards website. In April the children can cast their vote for their favourite shortlisted book. Then in May the group is invited to attend the Awards Ceremony at Pudsey Civic Hall where the winner is announced.

Leeds Book Awards – Long List Readers Wanted!

Image result for the girl with ink and stars

The Leeds Book Awards takes place every January – May and for the past five years children from ACE have taken part.

Last year for the first time organisers of the awards, The School Library Service asked for some children to read books that are being considered for the awards. This year they have asked if we could read some more books as they would really like to hear children’s opinion’s of them before they decide which six books are going to be chosen (short listed) for the awards.

If you would like to help with this please see Miss Whiteley before the end of Friday 7th October.
