Harry Potter Book Night

On Thursday 8th February 53 children from Years 4, 5 and 6 were invited to attend this year’s Harry Potter Book Night.

The children arrived at 5.45pm to take part in the sorting hat ceremony which was followed by lots of different activities before the evening closed with the trophy being awarded to the house with the most points.

This year Ravenclaw won with 645 house points!

 

Daniel Ingram Brown – Author Event

Author, Daniel Ingram-Brown will be visiting school and running a session for children in years 4, 5 and 6.

He will talk to the children about being a writer, about his books and writing their own stories.

Children will also have the opportunity to buy a book/s. If they would like to do so they can either pre-order or bring money on the day.

Books are priced at £8 each or £12 for both of them.

Look out for a letter about this event.

Author Event (Year 1) – 18th January

Year 1 will be attending the Chris Naylor-Ballesteros author event at Moor Allerton Library on Thursday 18th January.

If you haven’t ordered your books it is not too late.

Please complete the slip at the bottom of the letter and send either cash or a cheque (made payable to Orinoco Books) by Tuesday 16th January.

Children will be able to have their book/s signed by Chris following the session.

World Book Day – 1st March

On Thursday 1st March we will be celebrating World Book Day.

This year’s theme is Where’s Wally and we are inviting children to come into school dressed up as Wally or Wenda (no other characters from other books please).

The day will be filled with lots of Where’s Wally activities and we also have an author, Jane Elson visiting children in years 5 and 6.
