Happy World Book Day!
Dressed in Pyjamas and onesies children celebrated World Book Day both in school or at home. Stories were shared, quizzes were played while egg boxes and potatoes were transformed into well-loved book characters along with many other activities.
Remember WBD £1 vouchers can be redeemed until 28th March.
Children in Years 5 & 6 have been invited to attend a workshop with author, illustrator and performance poet, Chris White on 10th March.
This is a combined event organised by The Grammar School at Leeds with children attending from several other primary schools.

Today, children in Years 4, 5 and 6 were thrilled to receive a visit from local author, Tom Palmer.
The children attended a session with Tom where he spoke about being a writer, about some of his books (he’s well known for his football and historically set books) before they asked him lots of questions as well as quizzing him about his other passion Leeds United.
A small group of children in Year 4 were also invited to participate in a writing workshop with Tom from initial planning to developing characters and plot ideas before editing the beginnings of a very promising action packed Roman inspired story.
On Tuesday 23rd February, Tom Palmer will be visiting (virtually) children in Years 4, 5 and 6.
Each year group will have a session with Tom and a group of children from year 4 will have the opportunity to work with Tom on a writing project.

This year World Book Day will be slightly different but we will still be celebrating all things books.
There are lots of activities that you can get involved in, join in online with Sharing a Story Corner and Share a Story live events or perhaps watch the Author and Illustrator Academy videos and take part in lots of exciting challenges and activities.

This afternoon, author of Letters of the Lighthouse, Emma Carroll virtually visited Year 6.
The Children were really excited to meet Emma as she is the author of their current class novel and links to their topic, World War II.
Emma talked about writing, read extracts from the book, answered questions from the children and even introduced them to her assistant, Olive (named after the main character in the book), the dog.
On Monday 23rd November, author, Emma Carroll will be visiting Year 6 children, virtually. Emma will be talking to the children about what it is like being a writer and writing in general. She will primarily be focusing on one of her books; Letter from the Lighthouse which is Year 6’s class novel this term.
The children will also have the opportunity at the end of the talk to ask Emma lots of questions.
