Parent and Child Story-time Sessions

Next half term, we would like to invite parents from Reception & Year 1 to attend our after-school library sessions.

This will be an opportunity for you to visit our wonderful new library, share books with your child and speak to staff about all things reading.

This will be offered on a first come, first served basis with parents being required to sign up via ParentPay.

The library will be open to parents on the following days and times:

Year 1:          Tuesdays 3:00 – 4:00pm

Reception:    Wednesdays 3:00 – 4:00pm

Please wear a face mask for this session, unless you are exempt.

If we can please ask that you collect your child as usual from the playground or nursery lane gate and then wait outside the main reception until a member of staff collects you.
We look forward to welcoming you to our new library.

Sizzling Summer Reads

Not sure how to spend your summer? Why not pick up a book or two and escape to another world, join in a thrilling adventure or learn about something new?

The World Book Day website is brimming with ideas for books you might like to read or get some ideas for books. Why not check out Moor Allerton Library (Library near Sainsburys) as they might have some of them for you to borrow or you might find some other books too.

Summer Reading Challenge

Why not sign up and join this year’s Summer Reading Challenge?

This year the theme is Wild World Heroes and is in partnership with the WWF. The focus is on taking action and helping combat plastic pollution and deforestation as more and more animals are being affected and are losing their habitats. Would you like to help the Wild World Heroes try and solve some of these threats to our environment and read a few books over the summer at the same time?

If so it’s really easy to take part just visit Summer Reading Challenge to find out more and to sign up!

Library Makeover

Exciting news, over the summer holidays the Library is going to have a makeover!

Miss Whiteley needs some help with thinking of some ideas of what the new Library should look like. Can you help?

Think about what sort of shelves, seating (could be beanbags, sofas, seating that is part of the bookcases), would you like tables and chairs, computers, what about the flooring? Also think about colour, what colours would you like? How about a theme such as Space or Under the Sea?

Your class School Council representatives will be talking to you about this so if you have any great ideas please tell them and they will let Miss Whiteley know.

Keep checking the Library blog for updates!

World Book Day Celebrations

Happy World Book Day!

Dressed in Pyjamas and onesies children celebrated World Book Day both in school or at home. Stories were shared, quizzes were played while egg boxes and potatoes were transformed into well-loved book characters along with many other activities.

Remember WBD £1 vouchers can be redeemed until 28th March.
