Harry Potter Book Night

HP-NightOn Thursday 11th February 42 children from years 4, 5 and 6 were invited to attend a very special evening at school.  The children returned to school at 6pm dressed in their party clothes and walked up the lantern lit path to the main entrance.

Upon arrival at Hogwarts (the school hall) the sorting hat allocated a house to each for the evening.

The children earned house points by completing activities which included learning some ballroom dancing!

A big thank you to all of the staff that helped out at the event.

Take a look at some of the photos below (more photos are in the library).

519H8eTGIrL._AC_UL320_SR208,320_My brother is a superhero, and I could have been one too, except that I needed to go for a wee. My name is Luke Parker, I’m 11 years old and I live in a mild-mannered part of London with my mum, dad and big brother, Zack. He wasn’t always a superhero, but with a name like Zack you’ve got to wonder if my parents had a hunch that one day he’d end up wearing a mask and cape and saving orphans from burning buildings. I mean, come on! It’s what you get in a comic when a superhero punches a supervillain. Pow! Blam! Zack!

Leeds Book Awards – are you in Y5 or Y6?

DSCN1471Every year school takes part in the Leeds Book Awards.

The awards are organised by the School Library Service (the people who lend us books that are in the big blue plastic boxes) who pick six books for children to read who are taking part. The children are asked to write what they think about each book and also once they have read all six books vote for their favourite one.

They are then invited to attend an award ceremony where the winner is announced. After the ceremony books can be bought and children are able to meet the authors.
